Website monitoring: an email when your site goes down.
Watchtower checks your site every ten minutes and your certificate, domain and email records once a day, and emails you when something breaks and again when it recovers. Once a month it runs the full Website Health Report and tells you what changed.
Five checks, on a fixed schedule
The same checks the Website Health Report runs, on a timer. The same code, the same thresholds and the same wording.
| Check | How often | You get an email when |
|---|---|---|
| Is the site up? | Every 10 minutes | 2 failed checks in a row, so one slow answer does not wake you. You hear again when it is back. |
| The padlock (SSL certificate) | Once a day | Under 21 days left, expired, rejected by browsers, or replaced by a different issuer. |
| Domain registration | Once a day | Under 30 days left, or expired. Where the registry does not publish the date, we say so on your monitoring page rather than guess. |
| Email records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) | Once a day | Any record changes or disappears, with the old and new values side by side. |
| The full Website Health Report | Once a month | Always: an emailed report with the grade, and what is fixed, still open and new since last month. |
Plain English, with the evidence underneath
These are the actual words of the outage alert and its recovery. Every alert is written in advance, one per kind of problem; only the measurement and the times change.
Subject: yourbusiness.ie is not answering
Your site has stopped answering
Two checks in a row, ten minutes apart, got no page back from your site. Visitors are most likely seeing an error or nothing at all. We will email you once more when it answers again.
What to do: Contact whoever hosts the site; most outages are on their side and are fixed there. Note the time on this email, as your host will ask.
Subject: yourbusiness.ie is answering again
Your site is answering again
Your site returned a normal page on the latest check. The outage is closed, and the start and end times are on your monitoring page.
The example site and times are made up; the words are not.
It watches. It does not fix.
Watchtower does not fix anything, has no access to your site and installs nothing. It measures from outside, the way a visitor does, and tells you what it found.
Every alert is a fixed piece of writing chosen by the check that fired, with the measurement underneath. No part of any alert or report is generated by a language model. Nobody is on call and no person reads your alerts before you do; that is why they arrive in minutes.
Planned at €15 a month per site
Watchtower is built and not yet switched on. Leave your address and we will email you once, on the day it is.
Tell me when monitoring launches
Watchtower will check your site every ten minutes and email you when something breaks. It is not live yet. Leave your address and we will send one email on the day it launches. We ask you to confirm first, the address is used for nothing else, and you can take it off the list at any time.
Lawful basis: your consent, given when you confirm. Withdraw it with the unsubscribe link in any email from the list.
One email address, one purpose
The only personal data Watchtower holds is the email address alerts go to. We use it to deliver the service you pay for, which is the lawful basis (performance of a contract). It is used for nothing else. When the subscription ends, the address is deleted from the monitor; Stripe keeps its own billing record, as the law requires.
The waitlist is separate. Lawful basis: your consent, given when you confirm. Withdraw it with the unsubscribe link in any email from the list. Addresses on it are used for one email at launch and nothing else.
Monitoring, answered
Will you fix my site when it goes down?
No. Watchtower tells you, quickly and in plain English, with the evidence your host or web person needs. It does not fix anything and nobody logs in to your site. That is the same line the €79 report holds: we diagnose, someone you choose fixes.
Do you need a password, a plugin or access to my hosting?
No. Every check runs from outside, the way a visitor or a search engine sees your site. Nothing is installed and nothing is handed over.
What counts as down?
Two checks in a row, 10 minutes apart, that get no page back, or get refused. One failure on its own is often a blip, so it is recorded on your monitoring page and not emailed. When the site answers again you get one more email, and the outage is closed with its start and end times.
Will it flood my inbox?
No. Each incident gets one alert, plus one when it clears. On a bad day the cap is 5 alert emails per site; anything after that is held and sent the next morning as one digest. The monitoring page always shows the current state.
Does it respect my robots.txt?
Yes. Requests identify themselves as WellkeptBot, the same checker the report uses. If your robots.txt asks WellkeptBot to stay away from your home page, the uptime check and monthly report pause and you are told why. The certificate, domain and email record checks do not request pages, so they carry on.
How is this different from the €79 report?
The report is one thorough examination, once. Watchtower keeps watching between examinations: it catches the outage at 9pm, the certificate that did not renew and the email record someone changed, and once a month it runs the full report and shows what moved.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from your monitoring page. Cancelling and card changes happen on Stripe’s own page. Checks stop at the end of the period you have paid for, and the alert address is deleted from the monitor.
