Grow Digital Voucher: what replaced the Trading Online Voucher, and what it will pay for

The Trading Online Voucher closed to applications in December 2024. The Grow Digital Voucher replaced it from 4 September 2024. It pays 50% of eligible costs, with a grant of €500 to €5,000 per application, to businesses with 1 to 50 paid employees that have completed a Digital for Business project in the previous two years. It funds off-the-shelf software, not bespoke website builds.

Last checked 8 October 2026 against the Local Enterprise Office and Department of Enterprise pages linked on this page. Terms change, and your Local Enterprise Office decides every application. Treat this as a map, not a promise of funding.

Who qualifies for the Grow Digital Voucher

Per the Local Enterprise Office eligibility page (checked 8 October 2026), a business must:

  • Have between 1 and 50 paid employees. The old Trading Online Voucher stopped at ten.
  • Have been established and trading for at least six months, be registered, and operate within the area of the Local Enterprise Office it applies to.
  • Have completed a Digital for Business project within the previous two years. This is the step most people miss. The voucher is meant to pay for putting that project's recommendations into practice, so the Digital for Business work comes first.
  • Not currently be a client of Enterprise Ireland or IDA Ireland. Those clients have their own supports; ask your adviser there.
  • Be solvent, as shown in the financial statements supplied with the application.

Across all applications, a business can be approved for at most two Grow Digital Voucher projects, with a combined grant of no more than €5,000.

How to apply for the LEO digital grant

  1. Take the free self-assessment on the Grow Digital portal to see where your business stands. It is a starting point, not an application.
  2. Contact your Local Enterprise Office and ask about Digital for Business, if you have not completed it in the last two years.
  3. Use what comes out of that project to choose the software you want to fund, and get the quotes.
  4. Apply to your Local Enterprise Office before you spend anything. Per the LEO grant page, spending incurred before the application form is received is not eligible.

What the Grow Digital Voucher pays for, and what it does not

Can be eligible

  • Off-the-shelf software subscriptions that are new to the business, for up to one year's subscription (LEO)
  • Cyber security software (LEO)
  • Cloud accounting or payroll software, and analytics software (LEO)
  • Customer relationship management (CRM), e-commerce, and online booking, payments or appointments software (LEO)
  • Training and IT configuration for that software, as long as together they are no more than 50% of the project cost (LEO)

Not eligible

  • Bespoke website development (LEO)
  • Custom or bespoke software (LEO)
  • More licences for software you already use (LEO)
  • Systems for regulatory compliance (LEO)
  • Anything spent before your application is received (LEO)
  • Website audits and SEO. We cannot find either listed as eligible on any primary source. That is not the same as a ruling that they are excluded, but do not count on them.

Is there a website grant in Ireland?

Not in the way many agency pages still suggest. The Grow Digital Voucher is a software grant. It does not support bespoke website development, and the eligibility page says website development is only considered under the same rule as everything else: a software subscription that is new to the business. In practice that points at things like a hosted shop or booking platform, not a designer building you a site.

If a provider tells you a grant will pay for your new website, ask them to show you the line on the Local Enterprise Office page that covers it, then check with your LEO directly. If the pitch is "get your website funded", be wary of it.

Where a website check fits

Honestly: the €79 Website Health Report is probably not eligible spend. It is a one-off report, not a software subscription, and audits do not appear on the eligible list. Do not buy it expecting the voucher to pay half.

Where it can help is the decision before the application. Voucher money is limited and goes to software, so it is worth knowing where the problem actually is before you pick what to fund:

  • If quotes and invoices land in spam, the fault may be your email setup, which is usually a few DNS records, not new software.
  • If enquiries go missing, the contact form may be broken, which is a repair, not a booking system.
  • If customers give up on the site on a phone, the cause may be oversized photos rather than the platform.

Any of those is cheaper to fix directly than to fund through a grant. If the site checks out and the real gap is booking, payments or customer records, you can go to your LEO knowing the software is the right spend. The free SPF and DMARC checker and website speed test cover two of those questions at no cost.

The Trading Online Voucher: what it was, and what replaced it

If you searched for the Trading Online Voucher in 2026, this is the short version. Per the Local Enterprise Office scheme page, it offered up to €2,500, with the business co-funding 50%, to businesses with ten or fewer employees, along with training and advice on trading online.

It closed to applications in December 2024. The Department of Enterprise announced the Grow Digital Voucher as its replacement, open from 4 September 2024 through the Local Enterprise Offices, with a wider range of eligible software and a higher employee limit. Any page still advertising a "€2,500 Trading Online Voucher" is out of date.

How to check the current terms

Grant terms change, and this page is not the authority. Check these before you plan any spend:

Your Local Enterprise Office decides whether an application and each cost is eligible. Ask them before you spend. Wellkept is not an approved voucher supplier and does not process grant applications.

Work out what to spend it on before you apply

Be clear on this: the €79 Website Health Report is probably not eligible spend under the Grow Digital Voucher, so do not plan on claiming it back. What it can do is show where your problem actually sits, the email setup, the forms, the speed or the site itself, before you commit voucher money to software. Verdict by email within the hour, with the evidence for every finding. No call follows it and nothing else is for sale.
